This is a top quality silver chest ornament from Yemen set with 43 carnelians. The entire piece is made up out of nine seperate silver pieces interlinked with silver chain. Every piece of chain is intact and in place. All the bangles are intact and in place. There is nothing missing from this entire piece of stunning ethnic jewellery.
The two rectancular side pieces are put together from three seperate pieces with a central square that links to the bottom and top piece with hand made chain.
The centre piece with the eight carnelian stones hangs in the middle from six pieces of silver chain. Below that there is another free hanging silver pendant with one carnelian. The bottom half moon shaped piece is linked with two silver rings.
Most of the floral decorations are hammerd out on seperate plates of silver and soldered to the silver base plates.
We estimate this piece to be from the first quarter of the 20th. century. It is a stunning piece with over 600 grams of silver, completely original and no parts missing.
