Wood
These wooden figures from the west of Nepal are village guardians that can be found at the entrance of the villages or in the rice fields or at the entrance ways to villages.
This statue is a corroded hard wood with a thick dark brown and black patina. It has insect damage and the posture is a traditional one with it's hands in the classical "namaste" posture.
These statues are almost always of a minimalistic beauty and show signs of a long life in the harsh Himalayan climate.
