A classical wooden antelope mask from western Burkina Faso. The interior patina and overall surface point to a considerable age.
The piece of rope at the bottom inside has probably served as a bite stick to hold the mask in place during use.
There are no traces of white, red and black pigment so this piece has probably never been coloured.
